2026 Acura NEXERA Vision Concept

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The Acura NEXERA Vision previews a new exterior and interior design direction that will influence future Acura models, starting with the next generation RDX Hybrid.

  • Its low, wide coupe proportions are joined by dual hinge butterfly doors, active aerodynamics, 22 inch centerlock wheels and carbon ceramic Brembo brakes.

  • Inside, fixed floor mounted seats lower the driving position, while the pedals and steering wheel adjust to suit the driver.

The 2026 Acura NEXERA Vision Concept gives the clearest indication yet of where Acura wants its design language to go next. Revealed during Monterey Car Week and making its global debut at The Quail on August 14, the concept was developed at Acura Design California in Los Angeles under new Acura Creative Director Yasutake Tsuchida.

Rather than previewing a single production sports car, NEXERA Vision serves as a design study for future Acura models. The first production connection has already been confirmed: elements of its styling, including the new lighting signature, will reach the fourth generation RDX Hybrid in the coming years.

Long Proportions Give NEXERA a Classic Coupe Profile

The proportions do much of the work. NEXERA Vision sits low and wide, with a long dash to axle distance and a smooth one motion cabin stretching toward the rear. Matte Titanium paint keeps the surfaces relatively easy to read despite the concept's more dramatic details.

There is plenty happening closer to the ground. An aero channel front fascia feeds into heavily sculpted bodywork, while an active rear spoiler manages airflow over the rear deck. Acura says the system is intended to improve aerodynamic efficiency, high speed stability and braking performance. Dual hinge butterfly doors provide the concept car theatre.

The 22 inch centerlock wheels are an Acura first. Behind them sit carbon ceramic Brembo brakes, while forged carbon appears in the wheel inserts, front fascia, diffuser, rocker panels and inner door structures.

Hidden Lighting Will Carry Into Future Acuras

One detail is more relevant to upcoming road cars than the butterfly doors. Acura calls its new system “phantom lighting,” with ultra thin lamps concealed behind the bodywork until illuminated.

The headlights and taillights take inspiration from Acura's A emblem. This lighting graphic is planned for future production vehicles, beginning with the next generation RDX Hybrid, making NEXERA more than a purely experimental styling exercise.

A Sports Car Cabin Built Around the Driver

Inside, Acura has taken an unusual approach to driving position. The front seats are fixed directly into the floor rather than moving on conventional rails. This allows the occupants to sit lower, with the steering wheel and pedals moving to accommodate the driver instead.

The black and white cabin mixes forged carbon and gloss black surfaces with contrasting pink details. Recycled aluminum also appears alongside Alcantara incorporating certified post consumer recycled polyester and CircuLeather, a genuine leather material developed around a more circular material lifecycle.

A Design Preview Rather Than a Production Announcement

Acura has not announced a production version, powertrain, performance output, battery specification or price for the NEXERA Vision. Those details are not included in the supplied material.

For now, its importance lies in what comes next. NEXERA establishes proportions, surfacing, lighting and interior ideas that Acura intends to develop across future products. After appearing at The Quail, the concept is scheduled for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Concept Lawn on August 16.
