  • The 2025 Xiaomi SU7 receives subtle exterior updates rather than a full redesign.

  • LiDAR and a full driver assistance suite are confirmed as standard across the range.

  • Pre-orders opened on January 7, ahead of an official April 2026 launch.

A familiar silhouette refined, not replaced

The 2025 Xiaomi SU7 does not chase reinvention. From the official images released this week, the sedan retains its original proportions and clean, closed-off front fascia, a look that has already become closely associated with Xiaomi’s automotive debut. The headlights carry over the same internal lighting structure as the current model, reinforcing continuity rather than change.

The revisions are concentrated lower down. The front bumper air intakes have been reshaped, and a millimetre-wave radar unit is now positioned centrally, signalling a quiet but important shift toward expanded driver assistance capability. New five-spoke alloy wheels introduce a slightly more technical feel, while the exterior mirrors are now finished in a contrasting colour rather than body-matched. A new Capri Blue paint option joins the palette, adding visual freshness without altering the car’s overall character.

Technology takes priority over surface drama

According to Xiaomi founder Lei Jun, the updates to the new SU7 focus less on styling and more on intelligence. The 2025 model will introduce new exterior colours, new wheels, and a revised interior, though interior imagery has not yet been released. More significantly, safety and driver assistance take a step forward.

LiDAR will be fitted as standard across the entire range, paired with a full suite of driver assistance systems. Lei Jun also points to a “more advanced intelligent chassis,” intended to improve driving quality, alongside an upgraded intelligent cockpit designed to deliver a more seamless digital experience. While specific performance figures and range data have not been disclosed, Xiaomi confirms that range capability will see a “significant breakthrough” compared with the outgoing model.

Positioning backed by strong market momentum

The SU7’s update arrives against a backdrop of strong early market performance. The original SU7 was formally introduced by Xiaomi Auto on March 28, 2024, and deliveries started the following month. Over 360,000 deliveries of the model have been made in the 21 months since, with an average of over 17,000 units each month. It has also become the best-selling sedan priced above 200,000 yuan over the past year, a notable achievement for a first-generation product.

That context explains the measured nature of this refresh. Xiaomi appears intent on building depth rather than chasing attention, reinforcing the SU7’s strengths while addressing technology and safety expectations that move quickly in this segment.

Launch timing and what comes next

Xiaomi confirms that the refreshed SU7 will be officially launched in April 2026. Pre-orders opened at 10:00 AM on January 7, with further product information promised in the coming period. For now, the company is keeping detailed specifications close, allowing the incremental visual changes to act as a bridge toward a more comprehensive technical reveal.

For Xiaomi, the 2025 SU7 reads as a moment of consolidation. It reinforces the brand’s confidence in its original design while sharpening the technology story that increasingly defines modern electric sedans. The changes are modest, but they feel deliberate—and that may be the point.
