2025 Subaru Levorg Layback

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The Levorg Layback extends the standard Levorg, gaining 200 mm of ground clearance and subtle crossover styling cues.

  • Powered by a 1.8 L turbocharged flat-four making approximately 177 hp and 300 Nm, paired with CVT and Symmetrical AWD.

  • Aimed at buyers seeking increased functionality without sacrificing Levorg’s dynamic character, positioned between Crosstrek and Outback in Subaru’s lineup.

Design and Exterior Dimensions

Subaru has reworked the Levorg into the Layback as a crossover-leaning variant. The roofline and body retain the wagon silhouette, but the addition of restrained cladding, revised bumpers, and a slightly raised ride height create a more robust appearance. Front-end styling brings a wider grille and smoother side intake shapes.

The Layback measures 4,770 mm in length (15 mm longer than the standard Levorg), 1,820 mm in width (+25 mm), and 1,570 mm in height (+70 mm). Ground clearance increases to 200 mm (+55 mm), enhancing off-road readiness. Exterior styling options include Urban Style and STI Style packages with gloss black or body-color accents, contrasting with the base model’s more restrained look.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the Levorg Layback uses a 1.8-liter turbocharged DOHC flat-four (often referred to as CB18) delivering 174–177 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Power is sent through a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, with an active torque split favoring the front but routing about 40 percent to the rear under normal conditions.

No official acceleration or top-speed figures were provided. Fuel efficiency figures are not available in the sources accessed.

Interior Appointments and Technology

The Levorg Layback cabin introduces a two-tone design with black leather or cloth upholstery, paired with copper or silver contrast stitching depending on trim. The dashboard hosts an 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Premium features include a Harman Kardon sound system, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. EyeSight X ADAS provides advanced driver assistance functions.

Market Position and Capability

With its lifted suspension and refined crossover-style body, the Levorg Layback is positioned between Subaru’s Crosstrek and Outback in the model range. Subaru has said Levorg Layback aims to deliver greater comfort and versatility, while still emphasizing dynamic capability and wagon practicality.

This model targets buyers who want SUV-like utility without sacrificing Levorg’s performance-oriented roots and sharp on-road behavior.
