2025 Skoda Epiq Concept
By Lorenzo Bianchi September 8, 2025
Skoda introduces the Epiq Concept as its most affordable EV, with production planned for 2026.
Compact size (4.1 m long) paired with a 475-litre boot highlights Skoda’s trademark practicality.
Adopts the Modern Solid design language, emphasizing minimalist styling and functional detail.
Skoda’s next electric chapter
Skoda has pulled the covers off the 2025 Epiq Concept, a compact all-electric SUV that’s meant to do more than just plug into the brand’s EV portfolio. It’s designed to bring affordability and everyday usability into focus, while giving a clear look at where Skoda design is heading. The world got its first look at the car during the Volkswagen Group media workshop tied to the Munich IAA.
Production is penciled in for 2026, and the Epiq will take its place as Skoda’s entry-level electric SUV. Price positioning is expected to be close to that of the Kamiq, which says a lot about how aggressively Skoda wants to chase the accessible end of the EV spectrum.
Small outside, big inside
At 4.1 metres long, the Epiq is firmly compact, but Skoda has long been good at making small cars feel larger inside. The cabin is laid out for five, and the numbers back up the practicality: a 475-litre luggage compartment sits behind the rear seats. For families or city drivers who need something flexible, that’s no small advantage.
On a single charge, the Epiq should deliver up to 425 kilometres of range. That’s not record-breaking, but it’s enough to cover the weekly commute, weekend trips, and still feel usable without constant recharging.
Design language shifts to Modern Solid
This concept also happens to be the first full expression of Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. It’s more pared-back and confident than recent Skoda models, with clean surfaces, bold shoulders, and sharper separation between body and glasshouse.
The exterior wears Cashmere matt paint, contrasted by a glossy black Tech-Deck Face up front. T-shaped LED daytime running lights sit above slimmer headlamps, while a strong tornado line cuts through the side profile. The overall stance feels tougher, more planted, while still recognizably Skoda.
Interior: useful, not fussy
Inside, the Epiq doesn’t aim to overwhelm. The approach is functional, with clever storage dotted around the cabin—hooks, fasteners, underfloor compartments—and enough space to handle gear like sports bags or even a small surfboard.
Wireless phone charging is standard, and the controls reflect the brand’s Mobile First strategy: a mix of physical buttons, haptic scroll wheels, and a digital interface that’s sharper but still straightforward to use. It’s less about screens everywhere, more about getting the balance right.
Production will happen at Volkswagen’s Navarra plant in Spain, alongside other compact EVs built under the Electric Urban Car Family (EUCF) umbrella. That means shared development costs and, crucially, the ability to bring pricing down to levels not often seen in the EV market.
