2025 Renault 4 E-Tech electric Societe

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 2025 Renault 4 E-Tech Société is Renault’s compact EV tailored for professional use, inspired by the original 4L.

  • Available in reversible and van versions, it balances passenger needs with cargo capacity.

  • Pricing begins at €29,300 excluding tax, targeting small businesses and urban fleets.

A familiar silhouette put to work

The Renault 4 is one of those cars that has always meant practicality first. In the 1960s, the little 4L became a workhorse across Europe, equally at home in the countryside or downtown Paris. Renault clearly had that legacy in mind when shaping the 2025 4 E-Tech Société.

The electric reboot keeps the retro-styled body of the standard 4 E-Tech but swaps out rear comfort for professional flexibility. The Société version comes as either a reversible model — folding rear seats that let you shift between passengers and goods — or as a full van with a flat load floor. Both carry the same squared-off stance and trademark round LED headlights, a nod to history wrapped in modern detail.

Built for professionals, not just nostalgia

This isn’t a vanity exercise. Renault wants the 4 E-Tech Société to be the small, urban-friendly EV that couriers, tradespeople, and small businesses can realistically put to work. Its compact size and electric drivetrain make it perfectly suited for cities tightening their emissions rules.

The reversible version makes sense for those who occasionally need to carry people but mostly deal with light cargo. The van goes all-in on utility, with just two seats and a simple load bay designed for deliveries and equipment.

Powertrain and range

Renault hasn’t published every technical detail for the Société yet. The expectation is that it shares its setup with the passenger 4 E-Tech. That would suggest a WLTP range in the region of 320–400 km (200–250 miles), depending on conditions, and compatibility with both AC home charging and DC fast-charging. It’s enough to cover a day’s work in town without range anxiety. [Unverified]

Inside the cabin

Step into the front and the 4 E-Tech Société doesn’t feel stripped down. The cabin carries over the digital instrument display and central touchscreen of the passenger version. Connectivity is front and center, which means fleet operators can plug in their management tools without hassle.

In the van, the load bay is simple and practical: flat floor, protective linings, and tie-down points. In the reversible model, rear seats fold to create a flexible space that can swing between errands and passengers. Renault hasn’t overcomplicated it — and that’s probably the right call.

Renault has announced a starting price of €29,300 before tax. That’s aggressive enough to tempt businesses away from combustion-engined city vans, especially with incentives available across European markets.

The 4 Société sits below the larger Kangoo E-Tech, carving out a niche for operators who don’t need the bulk of a traditional van but still want electric practicality.
