2025 Porsche Taycan GTS J1 2 Slate Grey Neo

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • GTS variant now pushes up to 690 hp with overboost

  • Subtle exterior updates, but major gains in range and charging

  • Competes closely with Tesla Model S and Audi e-tron GT

Familiar Shape, Cleaner Details

Design-wise, it’s mostly familiar. The Taycan’s low-slung profile, that teardrop roofline, and wide rear haunches haven’t changed dramatically. But the headlights now feature a flatter four-point signature. Air curtains around the front wheels have been reshaped for better aero. Even the rear light strip gets a mild redesign—just enough to look fresh without trying too hard.

On the Taycan GTS, the usual cues remain. Gloss black trim, darkened badging, and 20- or 21-inch wheels with just enough visual weight. The proportions still work. Front-to-back, the stance is tight, even if the car itself isn’t small.

Under the Skin, More Muscle and Range

The biggest shift comes from what you can’t see. Thanks to the updated battery and revised thermal architecture, the GTS can now deliver up to 690 horsepower with overboost. That’s 590 hp in regular operation, which is still more than enough to move this four-door EV with urgency. Zero to 100 km/h? Around 3.7 seconds. No drama.

More important than raw speed, though, is the boost in efficiency. The revised 93.4 kWh battery enables a WLTP range of up to 585 km in the Taycan GTS sedan—pushing it deeper into Model S territory. Charging is faster, too: 10 to 80% in under 20 minutes if you find a 320 kW DC charger.

A new push-to-pass function is included on Taycan GTS variants, giving a brief bump in output when needed. Most drivers won’t use it often, but it adds a nice touch of control.

Interior Tweaks Stay Tasteful

Inside, it’s still Taycan. Three screens, a sloped center stack, and clean horizontal lines. The GTS gets Race-Tex upholstery, black trim, and brushed metal inserts. Alcantara on the wheel and roof liner. There’s a nice balance here—sporty but not over-designed.

Ambient lighting and revised software round out the updates. You’ll notice things feel quicker, more responsive. But the layout remains intuitive.

Closing Thoughts

There’s no need to overstate what the 2025 Porsche Taycan GTS brings. It takes what already worked—poised handling, quiet confidence, fast charging—and improves all of it just enough. While Tesla plays with yoke wheels and acceleration gimmicks, Porsche’s staying the course. That restraint feels deliberate. And effective.
