2025 Porsche Macan 4S Provence

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Dual-motor AWD setup delivers 509 hp and 650 Nm on overboost.

  • 800-volt system supports DC fast charging up to 270 kW.

  • More space, more tech, and refined dynamics keep it competitive.

For years, the Macan has been Porsche’s breadwinner—often outselling even the 911. With the 2025 Macan 4S, Stuttgart leans further into electrification without straying too far from what made the original so successful.

The 4S sits neatly between the entry Macan 4 and the flagship Turbo. That middle-ground positioning isn’t just about price. It’s about balance—enough power to satisfy enthusiasts, enough range and usability to keep families happy, and enough refinement to remind you this is still a Porsche.

Design that nods to tradition while moving forward

The Macan 4S doesn’t scream for attention, but the updates are clear once you look closely. Slimmer headlights, tucked into the fenders, sharpen the face. The clamshell hood remains, a Porsche signature, while the rear light bar spans the width to emphasize stance.

Aerodynamics have taken on greater importance in the EV era, and the Macan reflects that: flush handles, careful sculpting down the sides, and a tapering roofline that cuts drag. Wheels range from 20 to 22 inches, each design reinforcing the SUV’s sporty proportions.

It’s recognizably Macan, but evolved—sleeker, more technical, and unmistakably electric.

Under the skin: performance

The 2025 Macan 4S uses a dual-motor setup and all-wheel drive, powered by Porsche’s 800-volt platform. With launch control engaged, overboost pushes output to 509 hp and 650 Nm. That’s good for 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a 250 km/h top speed.

The battery is Porsche’s new 100 kWh pack (95 kWh usable). Depending on spec and wheel choice, the Macan 4S should cover up to 613 km on the WLTP cycle.

Handling remains a focus. Adaptive suspension with PASM comes standard, with air suspension available as an option. Porsche Traction Management, torque vectoring, and even rear-axle steering ensure the SUV feels sharper than its size suggests.

Charging and efficiency

Here’s where the 800-volt system earns its keep. Plug into a 270 kW DC charger and the Macan 4S can jump from 10 to 80 percent in just over 20 minutes. At home, the 11 kW onboard AC charger fills the pack overnight.

A clever trick helps when only 400-volt stations are available: the battery splits into two halves, each charging in parallel at up to 135 kW. It’s Porsche’s way of making sure owners aren’t stranded hunting for rare high-speed chargers.

Regenerative braking feeds power back into the battery, smoothing efficiency in city driving.

Cabin: digital but driver-focused

Inside, the Macan 4S feels like a Porsche, just reimagined for an electric future. Three screens dominate: a curved 12.6-inch driver display, a 10.9-inch central screen, and, optionally, another 10.9-inch screen for the passenger.

The new infotainment system runs quicker, with voice commands that feel less gimmicky than in rivals. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, as are over-the-air updates.

Material choices remain upmarket. Leather is still available, but sustainable trims like Race-Tex are increasingly popular. Ambient lighting, premium audio from Bose or Burmester, and improved driver-assist systems round out the offering.

Because of the dedicated EV platform, interior packaging is smarter. Rear-seat space is better than before, and the boot is slightly larger. A front “frunk” adds storage for smaller bags or charging cables.
