Familiar design with a measured evolution
The 2025 Nissan Qashqai e-Power Australian Version does not announce itself through dramatic visual change. Its proportions remain compact and balanced, with short overhangs and a planted stance that continues to suit urban and suburban use. Surfacing stays clean, with restrained detailing that reflects the Qashqai’s long-standing role as a practical, approachable small SUV.
What has changed sits beneath the skin rather than on it. Nissan’s decision to keep the exterior largely consistent suggests confidence in a shape that has already found broad acceptance, allowing attention to shift toward the technology that now defines the model.
e-POWER becomes the entire story
For 2025, the Qashqai range in Australia adopts Nissan’s latest e-POWER system exclusively. This is not a conventional hybrid. The wheels are driven solely by an electric motor, while a petrol engine generates electricity as required. There is no plug-in requirement, no gear shifting, and no mechanical connection between the engine and the wheels.
The new-generation e-POWER system introduces a compact 5-in-1 powertrain that integrates the motor, generator, inverter, increaser, and reducer into a single unit. Combined with a redesigned 1.5-litre turbocharged engine using STARC combustion technology, the result is improved efficiency and smoother operation. Fuel consumption drops to 4.1L/100km, while CO₂ emissions fall to 92g/km, representing a 17.8 percent reduction over the previous model year. Cabin noise is reduced by 5.6dB, contributing to a more EV-like driving experience.
Australian engineering at the core
A notable detail in the MY26 Qashqai e-Power story is the role of Australian manufacturing. Key high-pressure cast aluminium components for the 5-in-1 powertrain are produced at Nissan Casting Australia in Dandenong, which serves as the global supply source. Every new Qashqai e-Power worldwide now incorporates Australian-made hardware, an uncommon distinction in this segment.
Technology and safety sharpen the package
Beyond the powertrain, Nissan has expanded technology features across the range. All grades receive an enhanced Digital Around View Monitor with 3D eight-point views, Skeleton Hood visibility for close obstacles, and a T-Junction view to assist at blind intersections. Higher grades add enhanced ProPILOT+ driver assistance, with improved lane-keeping functionality and updated graphics.
Standard equipment remains generous, including a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, and Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety systems.
Pricing and positioning in Australia
The introduction of a new ST-L e-Power entry grade broadens access to the technology, with pricing starting from $45,640 before on-road costs. The lineup extends through Ti, Ti-L, and N-Design variants, positioning the Qashqai squarely in the heart of the small SUV market while aligning with Australia’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard targets. Availability is confirmed from March 2026.
For Nissan, the 2025 Qashqai e-Power represents consolidation rather than reinvention. It keeps the form Australians know, while quietly reworking the fundamentals to deliver electrified driving without changing daily habits.
