Monochrome Pack: Design and Pricing
MINI has launched the Cooper SE Monochrome Pack with just two paint options—Midnight Black or Nanuq White—both with matching body‑coloured roofs. The styling is clean and understated. 17-inch grey “U Spoke” alloys come standard. The Monochrome Pack replaces traditional roof contrast or bright trim details with a minimalist look. The model launches in the UK from £26,905 on-the-road, positioning it alongside standard entry trims but with additional kit.
Performance and Battery Specs
The Cooper SE Monochrome comes powered by an electric motor delivering 135 kW (~184 hp) and around 290 Nm torque, sending drive to the front wheels. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) takes approximately 7.3 seconds. The car uses a 40.7 kWh battery pack, offering up to 189 miles (≈304 km) WLTP range. DC fast charging is rated at 75 kW, enabling a 10–80% charge in about 30 minutes.
Interior Upgrades and Feature Set
Inside, the Monochrome Pack introduces a multi‑tone Anthracite fabric across all seats, paired with subtle white and yellow stitching. The headlining is black cloth. Standard luxury features now include heated front seats, wireless phone charging, and a mini head‑up display projecting speed and navigation data. The previously optional MINI Toggle Bar remains part of the interface, supporting new Experience Modes.
Technology: Assistance and Connectivity
Every Monochrome model comes with MINI Navigation plus, Driving & Parking Assistant, cruise control with stop&go, and a rear-view camera. Bluetooth and USB connectivity are standard. These safety and driver aids raise the specification above earlier base trims. The 24 cm OLED screen continues to host infotainment and provides voice-command interaction.
Dimensions and Driver Experience
The new Cooper sits on MINI’s all-electric platform, offering a slightly wider track than its predecessor. Cargo space is around 210 L in normal form, expanding to over 800 L with rear seats folded. The driving experience retains MINI’s famous nimble feel—light steering, firm suspension, precise brake feedback—and adds greater range and refinement thanks to electrification.
Market Positioning and Pricing Context
Starting from £26,905 OTR, the Monochrome Pack offers premium features as standard at a price aligned with previous entry trim levels. It undercuts many higher-spec AWD electric models, while delivering greater visibility and driver-assist systems. Existing drivers considering Level‑1 or Level‑3 option packs may find the Monochrome Pack a simplified and well-equipped alternative.
Competitive Context: How It Stacks Up
In compact EV hatchbacks, the Cooper SE Monochrome competes with models like the Renault ZOE and MG4 EV. Its standout point is MINI’s rich design heritage—small exterior footprint, large cabin feel—and added flare from the Monochrome styling. The pricing is competitive, especially considering the head-up display and heated seats come at no extra cost.
