2025 McLaren W1 UK Version
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 9, 2026
The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and electric motor produce a combined 1,275 PS and 1,340 Nm, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
McLaren quotes 0–100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 5.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h.
The Aerocell carbon-fibre chassis, active front splitter and extending rear wing generate up to 1,000 kg of downforce in Race mode.
The 2025 McLaren W1 UK Version introduces the third model in McLaren's '1' car lineage, following the F1 and P1. Developed around a new hybrid V8 powertrain and carbon-fibre structure, the W1 places considerable emphasis on aerodynamic performance without adopting all-wheel drive.
McLaren describes it as its fastest-accelerating road car, with a lightest dry weight of 1,399 kg and a power-to-weight ratio of 911 PS per tonne.
Sculpted Front End With Active Aerodynamics
The W1's front bodywork is shaped around several cooling and aerodynamic openings.
A central bonnet intake sits between channels positioned around the headlights and upper wheel arches. Lower down, exposed carbon-fibre structures and an active splitter manage airflow beneath the vehicle.
In Race mode, the splitter deploys while the suspension lowers the front by 37 mm and rear by 17 mm. The aerodynamic package produces up to 1,000 kg of downforce at 280 km/h.
Anhedral Doors And Active Long Tail Wing
The W1 measures 4,635 mm long, 1,182 mm high and has a 2,680 mm wheelbase. Its low cabin sits within a body featuring deep side cutouts, exposed suspension elements and roof-hinged Anhedral doors.
Air channels feed the rear radiators and diffuser, while a roof-mounted flow diverter directs air towards the rear wing. The Active Long Tail wing extends backwards by up to 300 mm, providing aerodynamic braking and drag-reduction functions.
Carbon Fibre Seats And Driver Controls
The Aerocell monocoque incorporates both seat structures, removing the need for conventional separate seat frames.
Instead, the pedals, steering wheel and primary controls adjust to accommodate different drivers. A compact steering wheel sits ahead of a digital instrument display. Overhead switches operate the transmission, engine start and Race mode.
The cabin also includes an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and McLaren's InnoKnit textile. Behind the seats, a 118-litre storage compartment accommodates small luggage.
Twin Turbo V8 Produces 1,275 PS
The W1 uses McLaren's new MHP-8 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, producing 928 PS independently.
A 347 PS electric module raises combined output to 1,275 PS and 1,340 Nm. Power reaches the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and electronic differential.
The hybrid system uses a 1.384 kWh battery, providing up to 2 km of electric-only driving. McLaren quotes 0–300 km/h in less than 12.7 seconds.
Race Chassis And Carbon Ceramic Brakes
Race Active Chassis Control III offers Comfort, Sport and Race settings, with additional Race+ calibration for smoother circuits.
Carbon-ceramic brakes use 390 mm discs at both axles, supported by six-piston front and four-piston rear callipers. Pirelli tyres measure 265/35 R19 at the front and 335/30 R20 at the rear.
The W1 continues McLaren's limited-production flagship lineage, with extensive personalisation available through McLaren Special Operations.
