2025 Lexus LX 700h F Sport Australian Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The LX 700h delivers a combined 341 kW and 790 Nm, making it the most powerful Lexus hybrid to date.

  • FSport trim brings a darker, more driver-focused presentation to the LX range.

  • Lexus engineers retained full-time four-wheel drive, low range, and 3,500 kg towing despite electrification.

Design and Proportions of the Vehicle

The 2025 Lexus LX 700h FSport does not soften the LX’s presence. It remains tall, broad, and unapologetically upright, with a stance that reflects its body-on-frame construction. In FSport form, the familiar proportions are tightened visually through darker exterior detailing. The spindle grille adopts a deeper mesh finish, visually lowering the nose, while black exterior accents replace brighter trim pieces.

Unique FSport alloy wheels add visual mass at the corners without tipping into excess. The surfaces remain conservative and deliberately restrained, especially along the flanks, where clean sheet metal emphasizes width rather than ornament. In profile, the LX still reads as a long-distance, load-carrying SUV first and a performance statement second. That balance feels intentional.

Performance and Powertrain Overview

At the core of the LX 700h FSport is a new performance hybrid system built around Lexus’ 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6. An integrated electric motor generator situated between the engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission adds an extra 36 kW and 250 Nm to the engine's 305 kW and 650 Nm output.

Combined output reaches 341 kW with peak torque of 790 Nm, figures that place the LX 700h at the top of the Lexus lineup regardless of fuel type. Lexus describes the setup as a one-motor parallel hybrid, similar in concept to the RX 500h F Sport Performance. Instead of prolonged electric-only driving, the focus is on linear acceleration and instantaneous torque delivery. EV operation is possible at low speeds, primarily to improve efficiency and throttle control.

Crucially, electrification has not diluted the LX’s core abilities. Full-time four-wheel drive, low-range gearing, and a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity are all retained. Additional waterproofing around the hybrid battery and inverter ensures water-fording capability remains unchanged, preserving the LX’s off-road credibility.

Key Features and Interior Impression

Inside, the FSport identity is more tactile than decorative. While the cabin layout is similar to other LX models, the FSport seats include unique fabric treatments and increased bolstering. Darker trim finishes and contrasting stitching subtly alter the driver's mood without compromising the LX's opulent appearance.

A shift-by-wire transmission option and a 1500W auxiliary power outlet in the cargo area that can run small appliances are hybrid-specific improvements.

This detail speaks to how Lexus expects the LX 700h to be used, not just as a luxury SUV, but as a touring and off-grid capable vehicle. Advanced driver assistance systems are expanded, including vehicle approach notification and intelligent park assist.

Market Positioning and Segment Context

The 2025 Lexus LX 700h FSport becomes the new flagship of the LX range in Australia, priced from $202,000 plus on-road costs. It joins the LX 600 petrol and LX 500d diesel, marking the first time three distinct powertrains have been offered across the LX lineup.

Rather than replacing existing variants, the LX 700h FSport broadens choice. In a segment still dominated by large-capacity petrol and diesel SUVs, Lexus positions electrification as an enhancement rather than a compromise. The result is a flagship SUV that delivers added performance and efficiency while remaining mechanically authentic to the LX nameplate.
