2025 Lexus LS Concept

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Lexus redefines “LS” from Luxury Sedan to Luxury Space.

  • Six-wheel architecture prioritizes room, freedom, and privacy.

  • Part of a broader Lexus vision for land, sea, and air mobility.

The Flagship, Reimagined

The 2025 Lexus LS Concept made its world debut at the Japan Mobility Show, introducing a completely new definition of flagship luxury. Lexus is no longer content with building another large sedan; the LS has been reinterpreted as a sanctuary on wheels — or rather, six of them.

Chief Branding Officer Simon Humphries called it a vision of “Luxury Space,” signaling that the LS name will evolve beyond traditional form factors

Six Wheels, Infinite Space

At first glance, the LS Concept seems like something out of science fiction. The six-wheel configuration isn’t just for visual shock — it’s a packaging solution designed to maximize interior room and accessibility. Lexus describes it as “a home away from home,” emphasizing privacy and calm over excess.

The design is low, clean, and deliberate, with flowing panels that favor aerodynamic smoothness rather than ornamentation. The stretched proportions allow for generous cabin space — a place where, as Lexus puts it, “space is freedom and space is privacy.”

From the press images, it’s clear this is not merely a concept of shape, but of lifestyle. The LS Concept wants to be a moving retreat — a quiet escape from the noise of the modern world.

Beyond the Road

Lexus’ broader message at the show extended beyond the car itself. The LS Concept is part of a triad of design explorations that include the Lexus Sport Concept and the LS Coupe Concept, each representing different interpretations of luxury and emotion behind the wheel. Together, they form the “arrowhead” of the brand’s future design strategy.

But Lexus didn’t stop on land. Humphries also spoke of future mobility expanding into air and sea — autonomous catamarans and personal air vehicles developed alongside Joby Aviation were hinted at as extensions of the same philosophy. The LS Concept, in that sense, isn’t just a car. It’s a statement about mobility becoming multi-dimensional

Lexus Redefines Its Core

For decades, the LS has been Lexus’ technological and philosophical anchor. This new concept moves the conversation forward by shifting luxury from performance and materials to emotion and experience. It’s an unusual, perhaps even provocative, direction — one that suggests Lexus is more interested in redefining mobility itself than competing directly with BMW or Mercedes on familiar terms.

If this six-wheel sanctuary is any indication, the future Lexus flagship may not just carry passengers. It might carry an entirely new way of thinking about space, motion, and personal freedom.
