2025 Kia Telluride X-Pro

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • X-Pro trim increases towing capacity to 5,500 lbs. — up 500 from last year.

  • Refined cabin with new Terracotta leather, embossed seats, and 12.3-inch dual-screen tech.

  • Distinctive Gloss Black accents and extra ground clearance enhance the X-Pro’s rugged stance.

The Telluride grows into its role

When the Kia Telluride launched, it quickly established itself as one of the most complete three-row SUVs in the segment. Spacious, stylish, and priced smartly, it cut into the territory of traditional heavy-hitters from Honda, Toyota, and Ford. For 2025, Kia isn’t rewriting the formula but refining it, particularly in the X-Pro variant that has become the adventurous flagship of the range.

The most meaningful update comes in the form of capability. The Telluride X-Pro now boasts a 5,500-pound towing capacity, an increase of 500 pounds over last year’s figure. That extra muscle may not sound massive on paper, but it opens the door to more buyers who want to pull small campers or boats without leaving the Kia showroom. Ground clearance is also up slightly — a 10 mm lift — which helps justify the X-Pro’s rugged positioning.

Kia has kept its pricing strategy competitive. The 2025 Telluride range starts at $36,190 for the base LX and stretches up to $53,385 for the range-topping SX-P X-Pro AWD. The EX X-Pro AWD slots in at $47,085, giving shoppers an entry point into the more adventurous setup without needing the full SX-P treatment.

Subtle styling cues, stronger presence

Design has always been one of the Telluride’s strong suits. It projects a squared-off, confident stance that appeals to SUV buyers without veering into gimmick territory. For 2025, the X-Line and X-Pro trims gain new Gloss Black exterior accents — on the roof rails, emblems, and detailing. The result is subtle, but it separates the upper trims from the rest of the lineup while reinforcing the X-Pro’s tougher persona.

Exclusive wheels and that extra bit of ride height make the difference when seen in person. It’s not a radical redesign, but it doesn’t need to be — the Telluride has always leaned on proportion and presence rather than unnecessary flourishes.

Cabin gains a touch more polish

Inside, the Telluride X-Pro continues its upward climb in finish and technology. Kia has introduced a new Terracotta interior option, adding warmth to an already comfortable space. Embossed front seats and premium trim touches signal that the X-Pro isn’t just about off-road leanings — it’s also about offering buyers a taste of luxury.

Front and center is a dual 12.3-inch display setup, standard on the upper trims. The system merges driver information and infotainment in one clean, modern sweep across the dash. Digital Key 2 Touch, available from SX upwards, allows smartphone and smartwatch access, including the ability to share digital keys with family members or friends.

As ever, practicality is part of the appeal. The three-row layout remains spacious, with family-friendly ergonomics and storage solutions that make it as useful on the school run as it is on a road trip.

Safety continues to advance

Kia hasn’t ignored safety either. The 2025 Telluride gains second-row side airbags across the range, adding another layer of protection for passengers. Highway Driving Assist 1.5 — an evolution of Kia’s driver-assist tech — is also standard. It brings adaptive cruise control and lane centering together in a more polished package, keeping the Telluride in line with expectations for the segment.

These aren’t headline-grabbing features, but they quietly reinforce the Telluride’s reputation as one of the better-equipped SUVs in its class.
