A Familiar Shape, Sharpened for Electrification
The KGM Motors Actyon Hybrid enters the market with a shape that is already known, but subtly rebalanced for its electrified role. The coupe-style SUV silhouette remains intact, with a long roofline tapering gently into the rear, avoiding the abrupt drop seen in some rivals. Visually, the stance appears planted rather than overtly sporty, helped by standard 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and relatively short overhangs.
At the front, the Actyon Hybrid carries KGM’s latest lighting signature, including animated daytime running lights that add movement without tipping into theatrics. Surface treatment is restrained. Panels are clean, with character lines kept tight, giving the car a solid, almost architectural presence rather than something decorative. It reads as deliberate and mature, aligning with KGM’s recent design direction.
Full Hybrid Powertrain with a Clear Brief
Under the skin, the Actyon Hybrid adopts a full hybrid layout built around a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with dual electric motors and a dedicated hybrid transmission. Combined system output is rated at 150 kW, with the electric motors contributing a substantial 300 Nm of torque on their own.
On paper, the numbers point to a configuration that is more focused on accessible, seamless performance than on speed. Efficiency is clearly the primary focus, as evidenced by the stated combined fuel consumption of 5.5 L/100 km and CO2 emissions of 127 g/km—figures that fall well within segment expectations. The lithium iron phosphate battery is relatively small at 1.8 kWh, reinforcing that this is a conventional hybrid rather than a plug-in solution.
Interior Detail and Equipment Depth
Inside, the Actyon Hybrid leans heavily into a premium narrative. The cabin has a purposeful visual identity thanks to the black leather upholstery with red contrast stitching and quilted sections; door trims use leather-look and suede-style finishes to keep things consistent. A dual 12.3-inch panoramic display dominates the dashboard, combining the infotainment and instrument cluster into a single horizontal component.
Even before moving up to the higher K60 grade, standard equipment is quite comprehensive. Its original features included heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a hands-free power tailgate. With adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and a full suite of driver assistance systems installed as standard, safety technology is equally extensive.
Market Position and Availability
In Australia, the Actyon Hybrid launches in two grades, K50 and K60, with drive-away pricing starting at $50,000 before a limited-time $2,000 introductory incentive. This places it directly against hybrid offerings from Toyota, Hyundai, and Kia, though KGM appears to be leaning on specification depth and interior presentation as key differentiators rather than brand familiarity.
The Actyon Hybrid is now available through selected KGM dealerships, backed by a seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty and matching coverage for the high-voltage battery. In a crowded hybrid SUV market, it positions itself as a quietly confident alternative, focused on substance over noise.
