2025 Jaecoo 5 BEV

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The all‑electric 2025 Jaecoo 5 BEV offers up to 250 miles (400 km) of range on a full charge, powered by a 61 kWh battery and around 200 hp motor.

  • It delivers compact‑EV practicality with a 4.38‑meter length, a 2.62 m wheelbase, and spacious, pet‑friendly interior accommodating up to 1,180 L of cargo.

  • Positioned competitively in the UK at £27,505 for the BEV variant, it targets models like Ford Puma Gen‑E and Jeep Avenger with added tech and ambient refinement.

Design and Proportions

The Jaecoo 5 BEV shares its core silhouette with its combustion‑engine counterpart, measuring 4,380 mm long and riding on a 2,620 mm wheelbase. It features a strong “waterfall” grille concept (now solid for EV), reduced overhangs, sculpted sides, and a monochromatic gloss‑black roof — delivering compact dimensions with visual presence. Its upright stance and squared shoulders give it SUV credibility without excessive bulk.

Electric Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood is a permanent‑magnet synchronous motor, estimated at around 201 bhp (≈150 kW), paired with a 61 kWh battery. The result: approximately 250 miles (400 km) of WLTC range, fast charging up to ~80 kW, and a 0–62 mph sprint in about seven seconds. This aligns it squarely with urban-focused EV crossovers, while offering competitive acceleration and usability.

Interior Functionality and Tech

The cabin embraces minimalism with a stacked layout: a 13.2-inch portrait touchscreen, digital cluster, two‑spoke steering wheel, and a panoramic 1.45 m² glass roof. Ambient lighting, Qi wireless charging, dual wireless smartphone holders, and over 35 storage bins add to usability. Notably, the Jaecoo 5 is promoted as “pet‑friendly,” featuring antibacterial filters, cargo volume of up to 1,180 L, and rear space designed for flexibility and comfort.

In the UK, entry pricing for the BEV version starts at approximately £27,505 for the Pure trim. The combustion Pure trim begins at £24,505, while the Luxury package adds amenities and raises the price to about £28,000. With these figures, Jaecoo aims to undercut the pricing of minor premium rivals while offering up-to-date EV tech and luxury touches. Delivery timelines are expected for fall 2025.
