Six concept cars, born from the collaboration between the Italian brand and young students in the BA in Transportation Design, redefine the concept of high-performance sports cars.
Cars as sharp as blades and as light as dragonflies, single-seaters inspired by the tension of a bow or the grace of a manta ray, bodies sculpted by the wind and interiors designed as extensions of the human body. Six visionary concept cars, born from the encounter between one of the most iconic names in Italian automotive engineering and the creative talent of the new generation of car designers at IED Turin, interpret Dallara's vision of the future of sports cars.
Exploring the Spirit of Dallara
This synergy took shape within the thesis projects of the BA in Transportation Design, which invited students to take on an ambitious and concrete challenge: to imagine a new high-performance road sports car that embodies and reflects the founding values of the Italian brand — lightness, efficiency, simplicity, safety and authentic driving pleasure. The result is a diverse and daring collection of proposals that explore unconventional architectures, radical solutions and strongly distinctive languages, giving rise to personal expressions that are deeply consistent with the Dallara spirit and restoring the image of the sports car as an immersive experience.
A Mutual Learning Opportunity
This collaboration represented a unique opportunity for students to engage with an important player in the sector, and for Dallara, a concrete opportunity to gather new creative perspectives, fuelling dialogue between academic research and innovation in the automotive sector.
Type 3: Lightweight, Technical, and Motorsport-Inspired
Type 3 explores the idea of a lightweight, technical sports car that dialogues with the aesthetics of contemporary motorsport. The project is built around an exposed carbon fibre chassis, with exposed suspension that reveals the mechanics and enhances its functional character. The formal language is clean and essential, with compact volumes and clean surfaces. Elements such as Formula 1-style air intakes, a removable rear wing for track days and a flow layout designed for rapid brake cooling complete a concept that combines performance, rationality and structural elegance.
Extending the Vision of Sports Mobility
The thesis project offered an opportunity for cross-pollination between academia and business, combining the creative freedom of young designers with Dallara's rigorous and performance-oriented approach. The result is a series of original solutions that not only reflect the identity of the Emilia-based brand, but also extend its vision towards new scenarios of sports mobility.
