2025 Hyundai Inster UK Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Up to 370 km of WLTP driving range with the available 49 kWh battery.

  • Long wheelbase creates interior space that feels closer to a larger class.

  • Dual 10.25-inch displays, V2L capability and a broad suite of driver assistance systems come as part of the package.

Hyundai's smallest EV doesn't feel quite so small

The 2025 Hyundai Inster UK Version may sit in the A-segment, but very little about it follows the usual city car formula. Hyundai has stretched the wheelbase to 2,580 mm, giving the little electric hatch proportions that are closer to many B-segment models. You notice it immediately in the way the cabin sits within the body.

It's clearly built for urban driving, yet it doesn't come across as stripped back. Instead, Hyundai has loaded the Inster with features that buyers would normally expect from larger and more expensive electric vehicles.

A playful design with familiar Hyundai EV touches

One look at the front end and it's obvious where the Inster belongs in Hyundai's EV family. The pixel-style lighting has become something of a signature, and it works surprisingly well on a vehicle this size. Rounded body panels soften the overall shape, while chunky lower cladding and pronounced wheel arches give it a slightly tougher appearance without making it look oversized.

From the side, the long wheelbase helps the proportions feel balanced. Larger 17-inch alloy wheels are available alongside 15-inch options, while the Inster Cross introduces revised bumpers, roof rails and extra protective trim for buyers wanting a little more visual attitude.

The cabin makes clever use of every centimetre

Inside is where the Inster probably makes its strongest case. The front seats fold flat, there's a walkthrough between the driver and passenger seats, and the rear bench slides and reclines depending on whether passengers or luggage take priority.

Boot capacity starts at 280 litres but can grow to 351 litres by moving the rear seats forward. Fold everything down and there's up to 1,059 litres available, which is more versatility than many would expect from a car of this size.

The dashboard keeps things simple. Two 10.25-inch displays sit side by side, handling driver information and navigation, while wireless phone charging, Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto help keep everyday driving straightforward.

Built for daily commuting without range anxiety

Buyers can choose between 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs. The larger version delivers up to 370 km of WLTP driving range and produces 115 PS, while the standard battery offers 97 PS.

Charging is equally straightforward. Using a suitable DC fast charger, the battery can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes. An 11 kW onboard charger comes as standard, and Vehicle-to-Load capability means the battery can also power external electrical devices when needed.

More than another city EV

What makes the 2025 Hyundai Inster UK Version interesting isn't just its size. It's the way Hyundai has approached the entire package. The compact dimensions remain ideal for busy streets, but the equipment list includes features such as Highway Driving Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and a wide selection of safety technologies that aren't always common in this class.

For buyers looking to make the switch to an electric car without moving into a larger crossover, the Inster looks like a well-thought-out option. It stays compact where it matters, yet delivers the kind of practicality and technology that should make everyday driving feel noticeably easier.
