2025 Honda Civic eHEV European Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Honda updates the Civic eHEV with sharper front styling, black gloss grille highlights, revised bumpers and new 18″ alloy options.

  • It retains the two-motor e:HEV hybrid system delivering 200 hp (150 kW) and 232 lb‑ft (315 Nm) torque, with class-leading efficiency.

  • Standard specification includes Honda SENSING safety, wireless charger, and improved interior finishes; UK pricing starts at £33,795 OTR.

Sharp New Exterior Enhances Civic Identity

The 2025 Civic eHEV debuts a dynamic exterior update that brings a more assertive expression. The revised grille and bumper feature gloss black surfaces and more prominent air intakes, while new character lines in the fascia add higher visual contrast. Honda has removed front fog lights in favour of improved LED headlights. New body colours include Seabed Blue and accessory trims in Berlina Black, Nordic Silver and Patina Bronze. All grades now ride on new 18-inch alloys—two-tone diamond-cut grey for Advance and black for Sport versions.

Hybrid Powertrain Delivers Performance and Economy

The Civic eHEV continues with Honda’s two-motor hybrid system: a 2.0‑litre Atkinson petrol engine, paired with two electric motors, combining for 200 hp and 232 lb‑ft torque. It offers three drive modes—Electric, Hybrid, and Engine Drive—for seamless energy use. Efficiency remains strong, with city consumption around 50 mpg and low CO₂ levels by European standards. Honda markets Civic eHEV as the most powerful non‑Type R Civic available globally.

Refined Interior with More Standard Kit

Inside, all trim levels gain a black roof liner and pillars to enhance visual cohesion. Sport models add a heated steering wheel, while Advance receives footwell ambient lighting and a larger 10.2-inch driver display. Wireless phone charging is now standard on Elegance trim. Advance trim remains equipped with a panoramic sunroof, Bose audio, and ambient lighting.

Safety Suite Standard Across Trims

Every Civic eHEV model includes the full Honda SENSING suite of active safety features. This covers Forward Collision Warning, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and upgraded vision systems for improved detection of pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles in low light. The camera system now processes signals at higher speed for quicker response.

Drive Feel and Chassis Updates

Honda has revised suspension dampers and spring rates to deliver a firmer but composed ride, improving responses in Sport and Touring hybrids. Reviewers cite precise steering, minimal body roll and refined highway stability. Despite the additions, Civic remains practical for daily use with lightly weighted controls and quiet cabin experience.

Dimensions and Practical Layout

The Civic eHEV retains its compact yet roomy footprint. Based on the 11th-generation platform, it offers generous rear legroom thanks to a 2,736 mm wheelbase, and around 519 L of boot capacity in the hatchback layout (varies by market). Interior revisions include improved trim materials and USB‑C ports across all grades for better connectivity.

Price Positioning and UK Specification

In the UK, Civic eHEV is priced from £33,795 OTR for the Elegance trim, rising to £35,395 for Sport and £38,695 for Advance. Civic Hybrid is the only powertrain available in Europe, completing Honda’s plan to offer all mainstream passenger models with electrified propulsion.

Segment Comparison and Market Role

The refreshed Civic eHEV challenges competitors like the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and Hyundai Ioniq with more power and equivalent fuel economy. Its strength lies in combining Honda’s fun-to-drive feel, refined hybrid system, and higher specification for the price. Civic eHEV’s awards—including North American Car of the Year™ for 2025 and Wards 10 Best Engine/Propulsion System—speak to its engineering balance.
