A Quiet but Striking Reveal

Among the manicured lawns of Hampton Court Palace, Halcyon lifted the cover on something unusual even by concours standards. The car, finished in a soft lavender tone inspired by the Scottish moors, is called the Highland Heather. It’s not a new model in the conventional sense, but a carefully reimagined Rolls-Royce Corniche — one of the most recognizable luxury convertibles of its era — reborn as an electric grand tourer.

In person, the color isn’t loud. It’s deliberate, refined. It sets the tone for the rest of the project: respectful of history, but unafraid to reinterpret it.

Craft in the Details

Step inside and you see how far Halcyon has gone. The cabin looks familiar at first glance, but there’s far more going on. A 1.4-metre aluminium dashboard panel, milled from solid, runs the width of the interior. Behind its classical layout are carefully integrated modern systems — a hidden infotainment screen that disappears when not in use, discreet climate controls, and bespoke switchgear.

It still feels like a Corniche, but one adapted for a new age. Hand-stitched leathers, bespoke steering wheels, and exposed details in brushed metal show off the craftsmanship rather than hiding it.

Halcyon says each car demands more than 2,000 hours of work, a figure that sounds plausible when you consider the extent of the re-engineering involved. Every donor car is stripped to bare metal, restored, and rebuilt with a mix of heritage techniques and present-day precision.

Underneath: Electric Refinement

The biggest change, of course, sits under the skin. Out goes the original V8, replaced by Halcyon’s in-house 800-volt electric powertrain. It produces around 500 horsepower and is tuned less for outright numbers than for the kind of smooth, wafting performance that buyers would expect from a Corniche.

Adaptive suspension and regenerative braking give it depth, while selectable drive modes — Drive, Spirited, and Touring — allow some variation in character. The goal, Halcyon says, was to preserve the “cloud-like ride” but add more composure when the road demands it.

Commissioned, Not Mass Produced

Just 60 examples of the Highland Heather will be built, each one uniquely commissioned by its buyer. The idea is less about production and more about collaboration — clients working directly with designers, sometimes artists, to shape details to their taste.

First deliveries are scheduled for Q4 2026, giving Halcyon time to balance exclusivity with craftsmanship.
