2025 Giamaro Automobili Krafla

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Krafla is Giamaro Automobili’s first hypercar, powered by an in-house quad-turbo V12 producing up to 2,157 PS.

  • The carbon-fiber monocoque, adaptive suspension, and active aerodynamics emphasize precision and agility.

  • Each car is co-created with the client, reflecting Giamaro’s philosophy of “Personal Engineering”.

A New Italian Hypercar Brand

Giamaro Automobili officially launched in May 2025 in Cavezzo, Italy, at the heart of Modena’s Motor Valley. Founded by Giacomo and Pierfrancesco Commendatore, the marque enters the hypercar scene with a mission that extends beyond performance figures. Their debut model, the Krafla, is a statement of intent: visceral, uncompromising, and deeply personal

The launch event emphasized Giamaro’s philosophy that a hypercar should be more than an object of speed — it should connect emotionally with its driver, becoming an extension of identity and expression. This ethos defines both the company and its first creation

Design: Emotion Shapes Form

Named after Iceland’s Krafla volcano, the car channels elemental force into its proportions and details. The quad-turbo V12 dictated the design, with the body shaped around the engine’s presence. The result is a hypercar with a rear-biased stance, taut surfaces, and organic volumes blended with sharp sculpting

The exterior balances elegance with aggression. Square front intakes reference jet afterburners, while LED daytime running lights frame the face with piercing clarity. At the rear, a flame-like lighting signature complements a fully adaptive wing, which varies in height and angle depending on speed and trajectory. This system also functions as an aerodynamic brake under heavy deceleration

With a drag coefficient of 0.33, the Krafla combines expressive design with functional aerodynamics. Every detail, from the sculpted intakes to the variable rear wing, has been engineered to enhance stability and efficiency

Interior: Fusion of Aviation and Craft

The cockpit adopts aviation influences without direct imitation. The central console, shaped like a fighter jet command panel, places all key functions within reach. The cabin cocoons the driver with ergonomic precision, designed to merge instinct with engineering

Materials include carbon fiber, aluminum, and refined textiles. Stitching guides the eye and subtly enhances driver engagement. Rather than focusing on ornamentation, the interior prioritizes immersion and connection, ensuring the driver becomes part of the machine

Engine: A New V12 Identity

At the heart of the Krafla lies Giamaro’s defining feature — a 6,988 cc quad-turbo V12, developed in-house. With a 120° “hot V” configuration, it delivers 1,670 PS at 8,500 rpm and 1,556 Nm of torque. In its most extreme configuration, output climbs to 2,157 PS and 2,008 Nm at 9,000 rpm

This powerplant is not derived from existing engines but designed from the ground up as a symbol of engineering independence. The V12 represents Giamaro’s manifesto: raw power combined with precision and soul

Engineering: Precision in Every Detail

The Krafla’s structure is built around a carbon-fiber monocoque weighing just 170 kg, offering over 40 kNm/deg of torsional rigidity. CNC-machined aluminum components reduce unsprung mass, while double wishbone suspension and electronically adjustable dampers adapt in real time to surface and driving conditions

A rear transaxle seven-speed Cima AMT gearbox, offered with paddle shifters or manual configuration, delivers rapid shifts. Braking is handled by carbon-ceramic discs — 420 mm with 10-piston calipers at the front and 410 mm with 4-piston calipers at the rear. Active suspension and ride-height adjustment add to its versatility

Krafla also introduces a unique three-key system that tailors performance:

  • White key: limits output between 400–800 PS for controlled driving.
  • Black key: unlocks the full 1,670 PS.
  • Red key: unleashes maximum power, 2,157 PS, with no restraint

Driving Dynamics

Five selectable driving modes — Standard, Wet, Performance, Top Speed, and Individual — allow fine-tuned adjustment of throttle, suspension, gearbox mapping, and aero. Combined with Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires engineered specifically for the Krafla, the car delivers responsiveness across all conditions

The adaptive wing, intelligent dampers, and active ride-height control ensure the car balances road usability with track-focused precision. Every system is engineered to prioritize connection between driver and machine.
