2025 Clive Sutton CS800 DH

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • London-based Clive Sutton transforms the Mustang Dark Horse into the CS800DH with a 3.0 L Whipple supercharger, raising output to 788 hp and 642 lb‑ft torque.
  • Upgrades include carbon-fibre aerodynamic kit, MagneRide suspension, 20″ Vossen wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, and a Borla ATAK quad exhaust.
  • Interior enhancements include adjustable Recaro racing seats, MGW short-throw shifter, and fully bespoke trim options, all while retaining Ford’s factory 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. Prices range from £135,000 to £165,000.

Upgraded Powertrain: Supercharged Dark Horse

Clive Sutton’s CS800DH campaign strengthens the 5.0 L V8 engine in the Mustang Dark Horse using a Ford Performance-approved Whipple 3.0 L supercharger. The result: 788 hp (799 PS/589 kW) at 6,700 rpm and 642 lb‑ft (870 Nm) at 4,750 rpm — representing a 76 % boost in horsepower and a 61 % increase in torque over the standard European-spec model.

These upgrades preserve all factory drive modes and work within Ford Performance’s official specifications. The output places the CS800DH above earlier Shelby GT500 iterations while remaining suitable for both road and track use.

Chassis and Handling Enhancements

To manage the increased output, Clive Sutton recalibrated the handling package. The car now rides on adjustable MagneRide suspension, lowered and firmed for sharper response. 20-inch bronze-finished Vossen HF5 wheels carry Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres (275/35 front; 295/35 rear).

Disc upgrades and enhanced brake calibration support consistent deceleration. Together, these modifications raise performance without sacrificing clarity in control.

Bespoke Carbon Fibre Aerodynamics

Clive Sutton’s carbon upgrades define the vehicle’s new silhouette. A 1,580 mm raised rear wing increases downforce. The broader diffuser, new front splitter, extended side skirts, double-sided hood, and headlight surrounds are all rendered in exposed-carbon fibre. The body kit improves airflow and visual presence in equal measure.

While styling is bold, each piece serves aerodynamic function— enhancing both stability at speed and functional cooling around braking components.

Interior Upgrades and Customisation

The interior reflects Clive Sutton’s bespoke ethos. Standard modifications include an MGW short-throw racing shifter and adjustable Recaro racing seats with heating and cooling capabilities. Full cabin reupholstery is available, from dash to headliner, in tailored leather and Alcantara colours.

These upgrades offer both driver support and luxury refinement. Adjustable seats support high-g cornering loads, while the trim options provide visual cohesion with the exterior theme.

Warranty Integration and Pricing Strategy

One strength of the CS800DH package is the retention of the original Ford Performance three-year/36,000-mile warranty. Clive Sutton adds their own matching warranty to cover the enhancements.

Pricing ranges from £135,000 to £165,000 depending on specifications and interior finish—a premium positioning well above the Dark Horse base price of approximately £67,995 in the UK.

Strategic Place in UK Market

Clive Sutton targets customers seeking a Ford Mustang with extreme performance and bespoke detail, yet still factory-backed. The CS800DH is positioned between UK-grown high-power Mustangs such as the Ford GTD and US imports from Roush, Shelby, or Hennessey.

While more expensive than stock variants, the CS800DH offers power, individuality, and peace of mind—an alternative to exotic marques at similar cost.
