2025 BMW i4 M60 G26 UK Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Refreshed design with new headlights and optional Laserlight rear lights.

  • BMW Operating System 8.5 with QuickSelect and Augmented View.

  • M Performance electric variant delivering up to 544 hp in boost mode.

Revised Exterior Design and Lighting Technology

The 2025 BMW i4 M60 G26 UK Version forms part of the updated BMW i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupé line-up, introducing subtle yet purposeful design refinements. The front end retains the vertical kidney grille theme, now framed by a matt chrome surround. On the electric i4, the upper section of the grille remains enclosed, finished beneath a Black high-gloss surface with a matt-silver honeycomb pattern.

Headlight architecture has been reworked. Low and high beam functions are now generated from a single LED module, while vertical, arrow-shaped light elements define the daytime running lights and indicators. Optional Adaptive LED Headlights introduce blue inlays and non-dazzling matrix high beam functionality. When specified, Laserlight rear lamps deliver a distinctive fibre-optic light signature derived from technology first seen on the BMW M4 CSL.

New exterior colours, including Cape York Green metallic and Fire Red metallic, broaden individualisation options. Wheel choices extend to 19-inch M aerodynamic designs and 20-inch BMW Individual variants with mixed-size tyres.

M Performance Electric Drive

While the UK pricing sheet identifies the i4 eDrive35, eDrive40 and i4 M50 variants, the 2025 BMW i4 M60 G26 UK Version sits at the apex of the electric range [Inference]. The existing i4 M50 xDrive provides the performance reference point.

In M50 specification, dual electric motors generate a combined 544 hp when Sport Boost is activated, with torque rising to 795 Nm for over 10 seconds. The 0–62 mph sprint is completed in 3.9 seconds, and top speed is electronically limited to 140 mph. The fully variable power distribution between the front and rear axles allows for maximum traction or rear-biased efficiency as needed.

The high-voltage battery is integrated into the floor structure, contributing to torsional rigidity and a low centre of gravity. Rear air suspension with automatic self-levelling is standard on the i4, reinforcing long-distance composure.

Chassis Calibration and Driving Character

BMW’s engineering emphasis remains clear. The rigid body structure, near 50:50 weight distribution and double-joint front axle combine with a five-link rear setup to deliver balance under load. Lift-related dampers moderate body movements over larger undulations while maintaining compliance over minor imperfections.

Electromechanical steering with Servotronic and an integrated braking system are standard. Adaptive M suspension and M Sport brakes are available, further sharpening response. Even in electric form, the i4 adheres to BMW’s familiar rear-driven character before engaging the front axle when traction demands.

BMW Operating System 8.5 and Digital Integration

Inside, the 2025 BMW i4 M60 G26 UK Version features the BMW Curved Display running Operating System 8.5 with QuickSelect. The main features can now be accessed straight from the home screen thanks to the updated interface's reduction of submenu layers.

BMW Maps integrates charging-optimised route planning with adjustable minimum charge thresholds and real-time charging station data. Optional Augmented View overlays directional graphics onto a live video feed in the instrument display or control screen.

Climate functions are now digitally controlled via the display or voice command, reducing physical switchgear. Steering wheels have been redesigned, with M Sport variants adopting a flat-bottomed three-spoke layout and illuminated multifunction buttons.

UK Market Positioning

Production continues at BMW’s Munich plant, supplied exclusively with renewable electricity since 2020. UK pricing for the BMW i4 range begins at £50,365 RRP.

In the premium electric fastback segment—where rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Polestar 2 compete [Inference]—the 2025 BMW i4 M60 G26 UK Version positions itself as a performance-led alternative grounded in traditional chassis engineering.

The design updates are measured. The technology advances are incremental but meaningful. The driving philosophy remains intact.
