Audi used the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show to introduce the Audi E SUV Concept, a model meant to signal where the brand intends to take its electric lineup next. This is only the second vehicle in Audi’s emerging E-series, and the automaker is positioning it as a blend of practicality and premium design, wrapped in technology that aligns with the brand’s long-term electric strategy. A production version is planned for 2026, setting the tone for what could become one of Audi’s more important EV entries.

Exterior Design Echoes Audi’s E-Series Direction

From the first glance, the E SUV Concept fits neatly into Audi’s evolving electric design language. The front fascia uses a closed grille—typical of modern EVs—but Audi has kept enough of its signature styling cues to make it familiar. The dot-matrix detailing and crisp digital accents echo the E5 Sportback’s aesthetic, giving the SUV a quietly technical personality rather than anything overly theatrical.

The roof-mounted lidar is the one visible departure from Audi’s cleaner design tradition. But on a concept previewing higher-level driver-assistance capability, the placement feels intentional, even functional. It signals that autonomy is not an accessory here—it’s central to the vehicle’s development.

Quattro Proportions and a Confident Stance

Along the sides, the classic quattro shoulder line traces a continuous path from the headlights to the taillights. Audi has relied on this sculptural cue for decades, and here it gives the concept stability and width. The flared wheel arches help deliver the same effect. Large wheels fill the body’s proportions without overdoing the visual drama, creating an SUV stance that feels assertive but controlled.

The sheet metal surfacing has a precision typical of Audi’s recent show cars. Nothing appears forced, and the profile remains clean. Even so, the design avoids falling into generic EV minimalism, keeping enough crisp lines and tension points to maintain visual energy.

Rear Light Signature Reinforces Brand Identity

The rear treatment continues with elements familiar to Audi’s latest production models. A single light bar spans the width of the tailgate, punctuated by an illuminated “AUDI” wordmark at its center. At night, it would be unmistakable.

Below, the inward-recessed lower section creates stacked shadows and depth, giving the rear more dimensionality than some EVs manage. It’s subtle but effective—an example of Audi leaning on proportion and surfacing rather than ornamentation.

Technology and Powertrain Draw from the E5 Sportback

Audi has not released full technical details, but the concept is expected to inherit much of the E5 Sportback’s software and cockpit architecture. That includes:

These elements form the backbone of Audi’s next-gen infotainment strategy, and their presence here suggests the brand wants a consistent digital experience across its EV portfolio.

Powertrain expectations also mirror the E5 Sportback. The dual-motor setup there produces 787 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, paired with an intelligent quattro electric AWD system. Whether those figures carry over directly remains unconfirmed, but the concept clearly intends to offer strong performance.
