2025 Audi A5 Sedan e-hybrid Quattro B10 UK Version
By Lorenzo Bianchi December 8, 2025
New high-voltage battery boosts energy capacity by ~45% and enables up to 67 miles of electric driving.
Combined system output of 299PS and 450Nm places the A5 e-hybrid among the strongest PHEVs in the segment.
Intelligent hybrid management optimises energy use with predictive recuperation and new driver-adjustable settings.
Design and Proportions of the Vehicle
The 2025 A5 Sedan e-hybrid Quattro arrives with the sharper posture Audi has been rolling out across its mid-size line. Surfaces read cleaner, the stance feels a touch more deliberate, and the proportions lean toward a more upright, broad-shouldered presence. Though the press material focuses largely on the hybrid system, the overall impression from the A5 family remains familiar: long bonnet, tight overhangs, and a greenhouse that tapers with subtle discipline rather than flourish.
The e-hybrid variants share the same exterior architecture as their combustion counterparts, but the packaging adjustments at the rear—needed for the larger 25.9kWh battery—do not disrupt the saloon’s clean profile. Wheel designs start at 18 inches as standard, and the restrained detailing works well with the new hybrid badge that appears on the tail, helping distinguish this generation’s electrified models.
Performance and Powertrain Overview
Audi pairs a 2.0-litre TFSI engine producing 252PS with an electric motor delivering up to 142PS. Together, the system produces 299PS and 450Nm—enough to move the A5 e-hybrid from 0–62mph in 5.9 seconds before reaching a governed 155mph. The hybrid module is integrated into the seven-speed S tronic gearbox, with the electric motor contributing most of the vehicle’s deceleration in everyday use.
The battery upgrade is the technical centrepiece. With 25.9kWh gross capacity (20.7kWh net), the pack offers roughly 45% more energy than the previous low-floor PHEV generation. Electric range now reaches up to 67 miles on UK models, and AC charging rises to 11kW, reducing a full charge to around 2.5 hours. Recuperation is significantly stronger, with up to 88kW fed back under braking. Paddle-adjustable recuperation allows the driver to tailor deceleration in EV mode, offering three levels of resistance.
Key Features and Interior Impression
Inside, the A5 e-hybrid retains the wide digital layout shared across Audi’s current mid-size models. The MMI panoramic display and Virtual Cockpit integrate hybrid data cleanly, and the new operating logic for EV and hybrid modes feels more structured than before. A digital slider now allows drivers to set a target battery state of charge, letting them reserve energy for urban segments later in a trip.
Standard equipment is generous: progressive steering, navigation, three-zone climate control, auxiliary air conditioning, and inductive charging all feature from the base Technik trim upward. The Sedan offers 331 litres of boot capacity (1,175 litres with seats folded), while towing capability remains respectable at up to 1,900kg braked.
Market Positioning and Segment Context
UK pricing begins at £48,950 OTR for the Sedan Technik, with the range topping out at £58,620 for the Edition 1. The e-hybrid effectively positions itself as the most flexible A5 variant: strong combustion performance, meaningful all-electric range, and charging times short enough to make daily EV running realistic. Its closest competition will likely come from other long-range PHEVs in the executive compact segment, but Audi’s emphasis on predictive energy management and high charging performance gives it a technical edge.
