Brussels Motor Show Debut for the Intensa Series
The 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale Intensa arrives as part of the brand’s new INTENSA Special Series, unveiled during the 101st Brussels Motor Show. The series spans multiple Alfa Romeo models and aims to highlight the brand’s identity through distinctive finishes and carefully chosen design elements.
For the Tonale, the Intensa treatment adds a more expressive layer to Alfa Romeo’s compact SUV. The underlying proportions remain familiar. Short overhangs, a relatively compact cabin, and body surfaces that appear slightly tense, as though pulled tight across the structure beneath.
The intention seems clear. Preserve the Tonale’s everyday usability while reinforcing the visual cues that connect it to Alfa Romeo’s sporting heritage.
Exterior Design and Signature Intensa Details
At a glance, the 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale Intensa looks sharper than the standard version.
The SUV rides on 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels finished with light-gold diamond-cut accents, an unusual color combination that subtly lifts the overall design. Black brake calipers carry the same light-gold Alfa Romeo signature, reinforcing the theme.
Gloss black exterior moldings and Dark Miron gray details further emphasize the darker palette surrounding the wheels and trim.
Color choices include Rosso Alfa, Verde Montreal, and Nero Alfa, each offering a slightly different interpretation of the Tonale’s sculpted surfaces. Rosso Alfa draws attention to the SUV’s muscular rear haunches, while Nero Alfa compresses the shapes into something more restrained.
The Plug-in Hybrid Q4 version adds dual chrome-plated exhaust tailpipes, another small detail that separates the Intensa from the standard Tonale.
Interior Materials and Cabin Atmosphere
The changes become more noticeable within.
The cabin's black Alcantara chairs with contrasting tan stitching add coziness to the otherwise gloomy interior design. The dashboard and door panels have matching stitching, which creates a unified visual rhythm throughout the cabin.
In the middle of the driver's field of vision is a two-tone steering wheel with tan highlights, and Intensa emblems can be seen on the inner panels of the front seats and the center armrest.
Another small touch is the embroidered Alfa Romeo badges on the headrests.
Driving at night is made more comfortable by the colorful ambient lighting and Alcantara upholstery with contrasting stitching on the dashboard.
Driving Technology and Powertrain Options
The 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale Intensa has a variety of powertrain options.
At the top of the range sits the 280-hp Ibrida Plug-in Hybrid Q4, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Additional options include a 160-hp hybrid powertrain with variable-geometry turbo technology and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, as well as a 130-hp turbo-diesel engine with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Tonale Intensa also includes electronically controlled suspension and Level 2 assisted driving, positioning the SUV as a technologically capable entry in the premium compact segment.
Audio comes from a 470-watt Harman Kardon 14-speaker system with subwoofer, while the driver benefits from eight-way power seat adjustment with memory settings.
