2015 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse La Finale

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • La Finale is the 450th and final Bugatti Veyron produced.

  • The Grand Sport Vitesse combines open-top form with 1,200 PS W16 performance.

  • The car closed a ten-year production run that redefined the modern hypercar.

The Final Veyron Leaves Molsheim

Bugatti confirmed the sale of the last Veyron on 23 February 2015, bringing one of the most ambitious automotive programs ever undertaken to a close. Chassis number 450, the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse La Finale, represents the final expression of a project that reshaped expectations of speed, power, and luxury. The car was unveiled publicly at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015, presented as a world premiere and positioned deliberately as the conclusion of the Veyron story.

A Program Defined by Numbers and Resolve

From the outset, the Veyron was governed by four non-negotiable objectives. It needed to deliver more than 1,000 PS, exceed 400 km/h, accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds, and still remain suitable for everyday luxury use. According to Bugatti, these requirements shaped every decision during development and defined the character of the finished car.

In La Finale specification, the Grand Sport Vitesse carried a quad-turbocharged W16 producing 1,200 PS and 1,500 Nm of torque. Performance figures remained uncompromising: 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a world-record open-top speed of 431.072 km/h. Even a decade after its debut, the Veyron’s numbers stood apart from the broader supercar field.

Design That Refused to Age

While performance dominated headlines, Bugatti placed equal emphasis on form. Company statements describe the Veyron as a modern interpretation of the brand’s core values, “Art, Forme, Technique.” Its proportions, restrained surfaces, and clear mechanical logic avoided short-lived styling trends, allowing the car to remain visually relevant throughout its ten-year lifespan.

The Grand Sport Vitesse added an open-top dimension without diluting that identity. With the roof removed, the design retained its visual balance and structural confidence, reinforcing Bugatti’s insistence that extreme performance did not need to come at the expense of elegance or usability.

La Finale as a Collector Statement

La Finale was sold to a customer from the Middle East, immediately positioning the car as a collector-grade artifact. Bugatti acknowledged that many Veyrons were acquired as long-term investments, often placed directly into private collections. Including options, the average transaction price of late-production Veyrons reached approximately €2.3 million, underscoring the car’s standing as both a technical achievement and a luxury object.

Closing a Defining Chapter

Bugatti used the Geneva Motor Show to place La Finale alongside chassis number one, visually framing the beginning and end of the Veyron era. For Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., the sale of the final Veyron was less a farewell than a confirmation. The program had met its goals, exceeded expectations, and established a new reference point for what a production hypercar could be.
