2014 Volkswagen Amarok Power Concept

  • One-off concept featuring a 5,000-watt portable sound system.

  • Integrated DJ deck designed for single-person setup.

  • Unique Dynamic Grey metallic finish with 22-inch alloys.

Wörthersee Debut With 5,000 Watts of Output

The 2014 Volkswagen Amarok Power concept was unveiled at the Wörthersee GTI festival as a one-off show vehicle designed to be as loud visually as it is acoustically. Developed by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, the Amarok Power transforms the brand’s pick-up into what is effectively a mobile DJ station.

The concept integrates a 5,000-watt sound system directly into the load bed, showcasing not only audio performance but also the Amarok’s inherent practicality. The system has been engineered to be fully portable and capable of being set up and packed away by a single person. It is a theatrical statement, but one grounded in clever packaging.

Exterior Finishes Emphasise Presence

Visually, the Amarok Power adopts a distinctive Dynamic Grey metallic paint finish, infused with micro glass flakes to intensify its sheen. The detailing leans into a harder aesthetic. Wing mirror covers and 22-inch alloy wheels are finished in Gunmetal, while orange-painted brake calipers and decals introduce contrast.

Additional highlights include bi-xenon headlights with chrome inserts and chrome-plated twin tailpipes. The proportions remain unmistakably Amarok: upright, square-shouldered and functional. Yet the added elements elevate it from workhorse to festival centrepiece.

Load Bed Transformed Into DJ Platform

The defining feature lies in the cargo area. The centrepiece of the DJ equipment is an Allen & Heath Xone:92 mixer, paired with Pioneer CDJ900NXS input units. Audio output is handled by two VOID ACOUSTICS Impulse 3t speakers, developed specifically for the Amarok Power.

A VOID ACOUSTICS Stasys Xair subwoofer reinforces low frequencies, while VOID ACOUSTICS mycro 6 loudspeakers serve as monitors. Amplification is supplied by MC² amplifiers. Each component has been configured to fit precisely within the Amarok’s load bed, creating a cohesive and integrated installation.

It is a concept rooted in spectacle, yet it demonstrates how the Amarok’s flat cargo architecture can accommodate highly specialised installations.

Interior Materials and Design Execution

Inside, the Amarok Power mirrors the exterior’s dramatic intent. Black and orange Nappa leather is paired with a black Alcantara steering wheel, bucket seats and bespoke door trim. Carbon leather trim features across various interior panels, while laser-etched seat fabric graphics complete the cabin treatment.

The result is a cohesive visual identity, linking exterior highlights with interior detailing. The cabin retains the Amarok’s robust layout, but with finishes aligned to the show car brief.

Concept Positioning

The 2014 Volkswagen Amarok Power concept was created specifically for the Wörthersee festival, held from 28–31 May 2014 on the banks of Lake Wörthersee in Austria. It stands as a demonstration of creative flexibility within the Amarok platform.
