1971 Aston Martin DBS Octavia by Ringbrothers
By Lorenzo Bianchi August 16, 1971
The Aston Martin DBS Octavia is a ground-up restomod with a custom Roadster Shop chassis, carbon-fiber body, and widened dimensions—8 inches front, 10 inches rear, with a 3-inch longer wheelbase.
It is powered by an 805 hp supercharged 5.0 L Ford Coyote V8, paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and FF Ford 9‑inch rear axle.
The build required over 12,000 hours of work and is valued at over US $2 million, reflecting its extensive craftsmanship and bespoke nature.
Reimagining a Classic with Contemporary Muscle
At Monterey Car Week’s prestigious Quail venue, Ringbrothers unveiled their most ambitious restomod to date: Octavia, a profoundly re-engineered 1971 Aston Martin DBS. The bespoke chassis incorporates a structural roll cage and mounts a carbon-fiber body with the driver’s silhouette retained for legacy balance, but transformed with aggressive proportions.
Every surface has been revised—only the arched side window maintains a trace of original bodywork. Modern access hardware, glass, and structural components were reimagined in CAD to integrate with Aston's heritage style, yielding a coke-bottle profile with refined aggressive modernity.
Widebody Details and High-Tech Hardware
Octavia
stretches the car’s shoulders significantly: eight inches wider at the
front and ten at the rear. The front wheels move forward by three
inches, extending the wheelbase for a more planted stance. These
dimensions required extensive fabrication—wider carbon-fiber fenders,
roll cage integrations, and Revamped handling geometry.
Major components include:
19×11 in front and 20×13 in rear HRE center-lock wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
14-inch Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston at the rear.
The Heart of Octavia: A Supercharged Ford V8
Under its carbon hood sits a Wegner Motorsports–built 5.0‑liter Coyote V8 with a custom 2.65-liter Harrop supercharger. Final assembly yields 805 horsepower, delivering modern muscle under a classic silhouette.
Ringbrothers retained a six-speed manual transaxle, paired with Ford 9‑inch axles. The exhaust system smartly combines custom headers, Borla mufflers, and carbon-fiber/stainless steel tips—continuing the theme of meticulous detail.
Interior: Where Craftsmanship Meets Motoring Fantasy
The cabin reflects Ringbrothers’ obsession with detail. Features include:
Pleated leather door panels and seats in a caramel tone, set against exposed carbon-fiber structures.
3D-printed stainless-steel trim.
Iconic nods to Bond culture, such as the “Aston Martini” valve covers and a Martini-glass dipstick handle.
These touches make the interior immersive, combining luxury with bespoke artistry.
Expected Price Point and Craftsmanship Value
Although Ringbrothers doesn’t widely publicize pricing—typical of one-off builds—the available data indicates the completed Octavia commands over US $2 million, a figure justified by 12,000+ build hours and exquisite engineering.
