1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 KINGPIN by Ringbrothers

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 KINGPIN by Ringbrothers delivers over 800 hp from a Whipple-supercharged 5.0-litre Coyote V8.

  • Built on a Roadster Shop FAST TRACK Stage III chassis with Brembo brakes and Fox coilovers.

  • Completed after 5,500 hours of craftsmanship, blending metal, carbon fibre, and custom 3D-printed details.

A Reimagined Mach 1 for the Modern Era

The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 KINGPIN by Ringbrothers isn’t a restomod — it’s a complete rethinking of Ford’s muscle icon. Revealed at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, KINGPIN arrives as the Wisconsin builder’s latest statement on what happens when obsessive craftsmanship meets modern engineering.

The team spent 5,500 hours crafting KINGPIN, starting from a Mach 1 shell and re-engineering nearly every inch. The goal wasn’t nostalgia — it was dominance. “The client wanted something sinister,” explained co-founder Jim Ring. “We asked ourselves, what would the final boss in a John Wick film drive? This was the result.”

Power and Precision Engineering

Under its Bootleg Black hood lies a Wegner Motorsports 5.0-litre Coyote V8, topped with a Whipple supercharger pushing output well beyond 800 horsepower. Power travels through a Bowler Carbon Edition six-speed manual gearbox, while custom Ringbrothers headers feed a Flowmaster Super 44 exhaust, delivering the kind of mechanical theatre only a hand-built V8 can produce.

The chassis is a masterwork in itself — a Roadster Shop FAST TRACK Stage III unit converted back into a unibody structure. The body was widened two inches at the front and 3.5 inches at the rear, with the wheelbase stretched by 1.5 inches. The car rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, wrapped around HRE Vintage Series 517 wheels, with Fox RS coilovers and Brembo brakes providing modern control over classic aggression

A Design That Amplifies Its Era

Visually, KINGPIN walks a fine line between menace and artistry. The custom BASF Bootleg Black paint absorbs light, while the trim’s Grab-Her Green accents nod to Ford’s Grabber Green heritage. The car’s widened haunches and lowered stance give it the presence of a track machine wearing a tuxedo.

A full suite of carbon-fibre components — diffuser, hood, valance, and tail panel — define its surfaces. Inside, the details are just as intricate: 3D-printed brightwork, machined aluminium trim, and a Ringbrothers “ENYO” crushed-carbon steering wheel. The cabin is modern yet faithful, featuring Dakota Digital gauges and a Vintage Air Gen IV climate system.

Craftsmanship Beyond Custom

Co-founder Mike Ring calls KINGPIN “a study in refinement.” Every surface has been reshaped, every contour sharpened. “We kept the Mach 1’s aggression but gave it composure,” he said.

It’s a philosophy that extends across the build — a car that looks like it could have rolled out of Dearborn in 1969, if Dearborn had access to CNC machines, carbon fibre, and 21st-century precision. KINGPIN isn’t about retro; it’s about evolution.
