Taking the outright hill record at Goodwood showcased the performance potential of a modern fan car, creating automotive history.

Now, enthusiasts can own an evolution of that record-breaking vehicle: the McMurtry Spéirling PURE, one of the most extreme track cars available. This car is optimized for race circuits, where McMurtry’s bespoke fan downforce system provides drivers with unprecedented grip. The system delivers consistent and manageable downforce regardless of speed, yaw angle, or wind direction.

Weighing less than 1000 kg, the Spéirling PURE is designed to deliver remarkable laps repeatedly. Its handling sharpens direction changes and heightens driver senses, encouraging harder pushes on the track. Braking and turn-in points are redefined, and superior traction allows drivers to exploit new operating regions.

The downforce-on-demand system offers maximum advantage in low and medium-speed corners, where most track time is spent. Spéirling PURE owners can experience G-forces similar to those in top-flight motorsport, achieving over 3G in corners like ‘The Loop’ and ‘Village’ at Silverstone, or the Monaco hairpin.

For optimal energy consumption and top speed of 190 mph, the streamlined body shape is crucial. The driver’s position minimizes the car’s frontal area, resembling the proportions of 1960s grand prix racers at 1.02m tall and 1.58m wide. The U-shaped battery placement between the wheels and under the driver’s legs helps maintain this sleek profile.

The car's powerful stance is highlighted by 18” tires with section widths of 270mm at the front and 300mm at the rear. Combined with the patented downforce-on-demand system, this design ensures total track domination. McMurtry holds intellectual property protection for this unique system, securing their advantage.

The powertrain system is engineered to balance performance and efficiency, maximizing run time and minimizing charge time. The car is eligible for premium track programs like the GT1 Sports Club, capable of completing 10 laps of Silverstone National at record pace and recharging in 20 minutes. It can go even faster for shorter qualifying simulations.

Production is limited to 100 units, with existing deposit holders expecting delivery in 2025. The validation prototype will continue testing in the UK and Europe throughout 2023, with pre-production prototypes to follow in 2024 ahead of the production start in 2025.
