SEAT continues to expand its range of electrified vehicles with the entry into production this week of the Tarraco e-HYBRID. The brand’s flagship’s flagship ZERO emissions plug-in hybrid version offers a combined power of 245 hp (180 kW), making it the most powerful Tarraco in the range. Beyond its power, it is also capable of offering a fully electric range of up to 49 km according to the WLTP homologation cycle (58 km NEDC) thanks to its 13kWh lithium-ion battery. With the two engines in use, electric and 1.4 TSI 150 hp gasoline, the SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID can roll up to 730 km uninterrupted. At this time, the brand already offers the SEAT Mii Electric and the SEAT León e-HYBRID, the latter available in the 5-door and Sportstourer body variants. The new SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID transfers the benefits of electrification – performance and efficiency – to the SEAT SUV segment and becomes a third fundamental pillar in the offer of this type of vehicle.
Maximum performance and efficiency
The SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID’s plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine and 150 hp (110 kW), with a 115 hp (85 kW) electric motor, a set of 13 kWh lithium-ion batteries and a six-speed DSG transmission; This powertrain delivers a total of 245 hp (180 kW) of power and 400 Nm of maximum torque.
The SEAT Tarraco allows you to drive in fully electric mode, which is considered an ideal alternative to increase efficiency or to circulate on city streets, where air quality standards are more restrictive. In this mode it reaches a range of up to 49 km WLTP (58 km NEDC). When it comes to covering longer distances, the SUV of the Spanish company offers the possibility of using both the electric motor and the gasoline, to be able to roll up to 730 km without the need to refuel.
The SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID always starts in fully electric mode (when the battery is sufficiently charged). However, the system activates hybridization if the battery’s energy capacity falls below a certain level or if the speed exceeds 140 km / h.
In addition to the different modes of the plug-in hybrid system (e-Mode, Hybrid automatic or Hybrid manual), accessible and configurable through the infotainment system, the SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID has two specific buttons (e-Mode and s -Boost) located next to the shift selector, illuminated and newly designed. With the different driving modes, the driver has the possibility to maintain the state of charge, increase it or use it to move the vehicle more efficiently, according to his preferences.

The e-Mode button allows driving in urban environments exclusively on electric power and without local emissions, while the s-Boost button offers a sportier driving experience with higher performance.
Thanks to its propulsion system that combines an electric motor and a combustion motor, CO 2 emissions are between 37 and 46.4 g / km, while it barely consumes between 1.6 and 2.0 liters of fuel during the first 100 km. All this according to the official WLTP homologation cycle.
And when the battery is running low, the system goes back to working in hybrid mode. Once the user is near an electrical power source, the car can be plugged in to charge the battery in just 3.5 hours with a 3.6 kW wallbox charger or in just under 5 hours with a 2.3 kW household plug.
The SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID is a fully connected model, both inside and outside the car. A prominent example of the connectivity offered remotely is the control of the hybrid system, which, through the SEAT Connect application, allows users to access their vehicle data, manage the charging process and control the air conditioning, all in remote.
The SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID will be available in its 5-seater variant, in the Xcellence and FR finishes, which will allow customers to find a vehicle adapted to their needs.
Designed and developed in Barcelona, at the brand’s headquarters in Martorell, the SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID goes into production this week at the Wolfsburg plant.
SEAT’s electrification goes beyond the conventional
The SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID, the SEAT León e-HYBRID and the SEAT Mii Electric are just the starting point. The company has also created SEAT MÓ, the new urban mobility brand, which makes its contribution to the range of emission-free products with the SEAT MÓ eScooter 125, a 100% electric scooter, and with two versions of its electric scooters: SEAT MÓ eKickScooter 25 and SEAT MÓ eKickScooter 65.

2020 SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID Exterior Detail
SEAT has also launched the electromobility Learning Center (eLC), a new training center in electric mobility for the company, where more than 15,000 employees are being trained in new hybrid and electric technologies. In addition, the construction of the new Test Center Energy has begun, its own laboratory that will allow the testing of cell modules, batteries and vehicles.
